Postcards from Paris

In the words of Audrey Hepburn, "Paris is always a good idea." We spent a recent weekend roaming the streets of Paris and have returned to London feeling a bit more inspired. Below are a few snapshots from the weekend, along with a new notecard inspired by our wanders.

Well written

An energetic pattern, the use of bold letters and a pop of colour is the perfect recipe for a notecard. Jot a sweet message and pop it in the post!

Duly noted

Working with a client in creating bespoke notecards recently, the lovely couple were having trouble deciding between two colour choices. R&J suggested featuring both colours on their custom creations, which was inspired by a lotus shape. Each colour choice was further enhanced by the corresponding envelope liner. A his and her's take on notecards!

Customised stationery is all the rage here at R+J. Each bespoke notecard is created to reflect a bit of the sender's style. A few recent designs have included hand-lined envelopes to add a nice pop of pattern when the receiver opens the notecard. Have a sneak peek at a few of our recent favs.

As the days grow shorter and Autumn is officially upon us, it's hard not to want to hibernate under cozy blankets and catch up with your favourite magazines and television shows. Celebrate a friend's recent move with a new design by R+J and a bottle of wine to make the new house feel like a cozy home.

A stroll in the Park Güell

It is always inspiring to roam the streets of a city other than your home town. The people, the sights, the culture and colours all seem to add a certain element to your visit. During a recent weekend in Barcelona, nothing seemed more inspiring than wandering around Park Güell, an influential and colourful Gaudi creation. Gaudi was strongly influenced by the shapes of nature and often referenced them in his works. The multi-coloured mosaics found throughout the park add texture and stunning colour as you overlook the city of Barcelona beneath. Inspired by our visit to the Park, R+J created a mosaic-tiled notecard, hand-stitched along the top, allowing a message to be written inside.

A vision of Bleu

We here at R+J have to admit that we are a bit obsessed over the new Bleu de Chanel short film directed by Martin Scorsese. And what's not to love? The blue-soaked colour palate, the gorgeous patterns featured within the film or the chic newsletter Le Tribune specially created for the fragrance launch celebrating all things blue. After watching the film for the umpteenth time, it has inspired some new notecard designs.

Lovely lettering

To celebrate a love of vintage typography, we've compiled a few of our favourite retro signs collected over the years. Even the simplest of typographic design looks lovely when such craftsmanship had gone into the design. Inspired by the simplistic designs of the past is a recent notecard design with a pop of colour found when the envelope is opened.

After a recent trip to Nantucket, R+J is feeling the lure of all things nautical. From a chic nautical stripe to that perfect shade of blue, the nautical look conjures up the feeling of a perfect summer afternoon on the water. Nautical notecards are now up on the site and are the perfect bit of summer to send to a friend.

The Perfect Note

What makes the perfect notecard? Well, we like to think the actual notecard plays a large part in that ranking, but there are obviously some other factors that play a part as well. The uniqueness of the sender's handwriting, the greeting and of course the message itself all measure up in creating a lovely notecard. No matter the occasion, its always lovely to get a handwritten message that a text or email just can't compare to. Find any reason to send some love to a friend.

The start of a new cycle...

London is joining the ranks of cities like Paris and Amsterdam to offer a public bicycle-sharing scheme. You can hire a bicycle for a short amount of time, ride around the city and return it to various locations around London. In celebration, we've designed the 'Chic Cycle' notecard below which will be for sale on the site soon!
