A lovely little letterpress print

A recent print that found it's way to the studio is proof that sometimes that best things in life are the most simple in design. A collaboration between Blush and Jim Williams is the perfect example. Choosing six fonts they found to be the most inspiration, a print of the alphabet was created on a vintage Heidelberg cylinder printing press. Bauer Bodoni has never looked so good.

Eye candy

We were always told not to judge a book by it's cover, but how can you not when the cover design is so adorable? Lovely paper stock, punchy, bright colours and bold patterns adorn these lovely notebooks gifted to us by a friend's recent trip to Italy. The yellow and white stripes are right up our street and are the perfect way to house ideas and doodles.

In Bloom

With London's recent gray days filling up our summer, the first glimpse of sun this past weekend had us racing out for some fresh air minus the umbrella. Petersham Nurseries was the perfect way to spend an afternoon, grazing on delicious cakes while wandering through lovely plants, pottery and other items suddenly on our wishlist for the home. A perfect blend of colours and textures transported us to a chic and inspiring location where one wished they could stay for awhile. This visit was the perfect dose of vibrant colour to carry us through to the next sunny spell...fingers crossed!

Icing on the cake

To celebrate AnOther Magazine's 10th anniversary, 10 fashion designers were invited to sketch their fantasy birthday cake. The results have been paired with the world's best cake makers to create the most delicious pairing of fashion and food. The creations were unveiled this week at Selfridge's Wonder Room featuring designs from Karl Lagerfeld, Gareth Pugh, Gucci and Lanvin. What better way to celebrate a birthday than having your cake and eating it too, fashionably of course.

Must-have

As if Hermes didn't already create enough lust-worthy accessories, they have added another to our must-have list. The recently released Hermes colouring book is choc-full of accessories to be customised in dreamy colour combos. Not sure if we could bear to share this one with the younger generation.

Down Under designs

As we prepare to head back to the real world and leave our time in Australia behind, we wanted to celebrate the fabulous bits of design we’ve been lucky enough to be surrounded by during our travels. From restaurant graphics to colourful street art and installations, inspiration seemed to be around every turn. Bright colours and lovely textures filled the streets and adorned city walls to create vibrant visuals throughout. With so many beauties to choose from, it was hard to narrow it down to a select few.

Night moves in Melbourne

The Night Market at Queen Victoria Market was one of our first stops in Melbourne and it was a great introduction to the textures and style of this artful city. Featuring foods from every area of the world, the market is the perfect spot to sample various bites and sips, including local loves. The sounds bellowing from two stages kept us buzzing around the market, checking out the stalls full of handmade goods. Have a peek at a few faves...

Our favourite things

When asked what inspires R+J, it's hard to narrow the answer to just a few blabbering paragraphs. When asked by This is your Kingdom what inspires us locally in London, the task was slightly more difficult to choose a select few inspiring elements. Have a read here.

Well read in Oz

A wander into a local bookshop has left us inspired and seriously lusting after Australian magazines. In addition to the beautiful sights and scenes of Australia, the pages of its magazines are just as visually stimulating. Our London-bound bags will be a bit heavier carrying as many lovely publications as we can!

Yellow and white alert

Just a short while into our Aussie holiday and we've found the perfect spot while visiting the Ivy bar in Sydney. It was love at first sight once realised we share a passion for stripes and appreciation for a yellow and white colour scheme. Between the lovely food, delicious drinks and beautiful decor, we are finding it hard not to return here on a daily basis! Be sure to check out the Ivy if you are in the area.

A stroll in the Park Güell

It is always inspiring to roam the streets of a city other than your home town. The people, the sights, the culture and colours all seem to add a certain element to your visit. During a recent weekend in Barcelona, nothing seemed more inspiring than wandering around Park Güell, an influential and colourful Gaudi creation. Gaudi was strongly influenced by the shapes of nature and often referenced them in his works. The multi-coloured mosaics found throughout the park add texture and stunning colour as you overlook the city of Barcelona beneath. Inspired by our visit to the Park, R+J created a mosaic-tiled notecard, hand-stitched along the top, allowing a message to be written inside.

Lovely lettering

To celebrate a love of vintage typography, we've compiled a few of our favourite retro signs collected over the years. Even the simplest of typographic design looks lovely when such craftsmanship had gone into the design. Inspired by the simplistic designs of the past is a recent notecard design with a pop of colour found when the envelope is opened.
