Down Under designs

As we prepare to head back to the real world and leave our time in Australia behind, we wanted to celebrate the fabulous bits of design we’ve been lucky enough to be surrounded by during our travels. From restaurant graphics to colourful street art and installations, inspiration seemed to be around every turn. Bright colours and lovely textures filled the streets and adorned city walls to create vibrant visuals throughout. With so many beauties to choose from, it was hard to narrow it down to a select few.

New York, New York

As one of the nearly seven million travellers stranded by the eruption of the volcano in Iceland, I've decided to make the best of the situation and walk the streets of this great city I once called home. New York City is full of art not only found inside of the walls of museums and galleries, but a simple walk down the street can be filled with so many visual stimulations in the form of posters, graffiti, temporary installations, buildings and even hand written signs. Below is a collection of my favourite bits of street art I came across in my very extended stay in New York City. Enjoy!

Handlettering

In a world of mass produced billboards and signs, its nice to come across those which have been produced by hand. There is something so beautiful about any method of handlettering, be it the more traditional method of a simple paint brush or the more modern approach with spray paint and stencils.
